A Celebration of Life for Robert Norman Fenter of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at Twin Lakes Baptist Church, with Dr. Sam Bailey officiating.
Bob went Home to his Lord on March 5, 2017, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 79 after a long battle with cancer. He was born September 20, 1937, in Los Angeles, California, the son of Charles Norman and Sarah Maple Fenter. He married his high school sweetheart, Gloria Grubbs on August 9, 1958, at Honolulu, Hawaii and worked his entire life as a firefighter, and as Captain with Los Angeles County Fire Department. Bob was a U.S. Air Force veteran, and served as a physical fitness instructor, teaching Judo and combative measures to pilots and officers in the Air Force. He moved from Newhall, California to Mountain Home in 2007, where he loved spending time in his vegetable garden, sharing with friends and neighbors. He and Gloria had a love of entertaining in their home, where friends and family enjoyed his cooking. It brought him joy to take food he had prepared to neighbors and widows. His love of antiques and old cars brought him great pleasure, as he restored such vehicles as his 1962 British Sunbeam and 1934 Master Chevy. His hobby of restoring antique furniture, became a business after retirement from the fire department. He was an active member of Twin Lakes Baptist Church, as evidenced by seeing little white crosses on lawns, across our community that he spear headed.
Robert is survived by his wife, Gloria Fenter of Mountain Home, AR; daughter, Wendi (Lon) Milka of Cool, CA; two grandchildren, Nicole McKay and Eric Milka; two sisters, Pearl Collins of Long Beach, CA and Norma Detamore, of Tucson, AZ; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Fred Fenter, and his parents.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Twin Lakes Baptist Church Hope Center.
Arrangements are by Kirby and Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
