Robert Horton

Robert Horton died Tuesday, September 23, 2008 in Mountain Home at the age of 75. He was born Wednesday, December 21, 1932 in St. Louis, Missouri, son of Homer Marvin and Dorothy Maxine Miller Horton. He married Jane Anne Hardcastle on December 18, 1970 at Mountain Home, Arkansas and worked 27 years as a salesman for Sears. Robert Horton was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of Korea. Robert lived in Mountain Home since 1967 moving from Collinsville, Illinois. Accepting Christ as an adult was the major turning event in his life. He gave of himself and his time wherever he was needed in the church. He hosted the "Jesus is Alive" radio program. He knew just about everyone in the county and enjoyed fishing and playing golf. He loved his wife Jane. He was very people oriented, enjoyed meeting and visiting and enjoyed sitting on the porch with a cup of coffee watching the birds and wildlife. He was a little league coach and a boy scout leader (2 Eagle Scouts from his troop). He was very proud to have served in the USMC and was very patriotic. Survivors: Robert Horton is survived by his wife, Jane Horton and 3 sons, Robert Allen Horton, Jr. of TX, Ben Hugh (Juli) Harmon MD of Seattle, WA and Charles Calvin (Rebecca) Harmon PHD of Chicago, IL, 2 daughters, Laura (Jim) Rogers of Harmon, AR and Betsy (Steve) Irvine of Sterling, AR, 11 grandchildren and extended family, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces and cousins and his brother, Richard Nathan Horton of Maryville, IL. Preceded in Death by: He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Scott. Visitation: Visitation will be 2-3 PM Saturday at the church. Funeral: Memorial services for Robert Allen Horton of Mountain Home, AR, will be 3:00 P.M. Saturday, September 27, 2008 at the Emmanuel Church, with Pastor Jerry Venable officiating. Burial: Burial will be in the Free Union Cemetery, Bakersfield, MO. Memorials: Memorials may be made to the AGAPE Fund of Emmanuel Church.
