A Gathering of Friends for Robert Roy Lockwood, 78, of Bull Shoals, AR will be Saturday, June 21, 2014, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home-Bull Shoals from 10:00 A.M. until Noon with a Sharing of Memories for Family & Friends at 11:00 A.M.. Bob died June 16, 2014, at Mountain Home, AR.
Bob was born January 4, 1936 at Joliet, IL to Ernest Roy and Dorothy Irene Nelson Lockwood. He was a graduate of Joliet Township High School. Bob served his country in the United States Navy for 23 years; he served as an electrician’s mate and as an investigator with the Criminal Investigative Division. He served on several ships, the largest being the Forrestal. After retiring from the service, he went to work as a regional service manager for GTE Sylvania Lighting. Bob moved to Bull Shoals in 1986 and was known for his signature “Snickers Truck” and his service to the community. Bob was a founding member of the Patriot Guard in Arkansas and a friend of Bill W. for over forty years. He served as a counselor and sponsor for Alcoholics Anonymous.
Bob is survived by his two children, Jeanmarie Bechtle (Jon) of Winchester, VA and Robert John Lockwood (Tracy) of Colchester, CT; brother, David Lockwood (Sue) of MN; sisters, Marge Pauley of Bull Shoals, AR and Marilyn Sienko (Rich) of Shorewood, IL; fiancé, Lorraine McHaney of Bull Shoals, AR; four grandchildren, Jessica, Megan, Ashley and Robert; three great-grandchildren, David, Aevistey and Waylon and many friends in the community.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jack Lockwood.
