Robert Shipley

Visitation for Robert E. Shipley of Jordan, Arkansas, will be 4:00PM until 7:00PM, Friday, September 3, 2010 at Kirby & Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be private. Robert died August 31, 2010 at his residence, at the age of 81. He was born February 26, 1929 in Moline, Illinois, the son of Virgil E. and Mildred Irene Boney Shipley. He married Beatrice Alice Clifton on October 22, 1949 at Davenport, Iowa and worked as a Certified Welder for John Deere. Robert lived in Jordan, Arkansas since 1982 moving from Kirkwood, Illinois. He was a member of the Buffalo Nation Turtle Clan and was a school bus driver for the Norfork schools. Robert is survived by his wife, Alice, 1 son, Gary (Lynda) Shipley of Walls, MS; 5 daughters, Sharon (John) Ecklund of Wataga, IL, Nancy (John) Bielser of Norfork, AR, Vickie Dickerson of Jordan, AR, Deborah (Roger) Sweet of Macomb, IL and Becky (Don) Nerge of Jordan, AR; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Ronald (Sandy) Shipley of Ottawa, IL; 2 sisters, Barbara Moore of LeClaire, IA and Sandi Ackerman of Jefferson City, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, Richard, 1 granddaughter and 2 great-granddaughters. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks.
