A Funeral Mass for Robert J ?Bob? Sladek of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 10:00 am Wednesday, August 24, 2011, at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, with Reverend Stan Swiderski as celebrant. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, August 23, 2011, with a Vigil Service at 7:00 pm, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel. Bob died Friday, August 19, 2011, at Mountain Home, Arkansas, at the age of 81. He was born January 30, 1930, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Frank and Angeline Sladek. He married Mary Ann Salamone on April 28, 1951, at Chicago, Illinois and worked as an electrician for Goodyear. Bob was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of Korea and lived in Mountain Home since July 1992, moving from Forreston, Illinois. He was active in several organizations including; 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Post, District and State Chaplain for the Arkansas American Legion, Honor Guard Chaplain for the American Legion Post #52, member of the Stamp Club, Woodcarvers, Master Gardeners, a volunteer for Baxter Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, a member of the Twin Lakes Marines and a KTLO Weather Watcher. He started the St. Vincent de Paul Society and served as their first president. Robert is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; 3 daughters, Catherine (Michael) Bober of Oshkosh, WI, Margaret (Chuck) Kochsmier of Forreston, IL and Roberta (Dirk) Currier of Dent, MN; 5 grandchildren, Dina Klancir, Kami (Todd) Robinson, April, Allison and Nathan Currier; 1 great-grandson, Caden Robinson and his beloved dog, Mollie. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Larry Klancir, 1 brother, Frank Sladek, Jr. and 2 sisters, Eleanor Blaha, and Dorothy Hallman. Burial will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery with Larry Jarbeck, Robert Lammers, George Murphy, Roger Paul and Roger Perreault as pallbearers. Military Honors will be provided by Alley-White American Legion Post #52 Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to the St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church Building Fund or Baxter Regional Medical Center Auxiliary. Arrangements are by Kirby & Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
