Robert “Bob” Charles Studnar 76, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2013 at his home in Mountain Home, AR surrounded by his loving family.
Bob was born to Charles and Elizabeth (Anzak) Studnar, on August 7, 1937, in Chicago IL. During his school age years he attained Life Scout rank with the Boy Scouts of America, and attended the 1953 National Jamboree in CA. He graduated from Bowen High School in 1955, and then went on to night school at The Lighting Institute of Chicago. On September 28, 1957, he married his bride of 56 years, Helen M. Stark in Chicago, IL.
He was employed by the Chicago Park District for 7 years as an Electrical Draftsman and later as an Electrical Engineer. Mr. Studnar then purchased his own business and was proprietor of Bob’s Boulevard Texaco and Towing Service in Chicago, IL. Following a vacation to the Ozarks in the early 1970’s, Bob, his wife and young family moved to the Twin Lakes Area. After being employed by Keith Treat Motor Company in Mountain Home, Bob opened Bob’s Body Shop, eventually settling the business at his home in Oakland, AR. Completing his career in Automotive Collision Repair as Body Shop Manager, Bob retired from Kent Chevrolet in Mountain Home, AR in 1998. Although retired, Bob continued to work, by helping at his wife’s business, The Window Place where he installed window treatments, serviced products, and constructed custom upholstered items.
One of his favorite pastimes was fishing, including participating in 11 consecutive Bass Cat Invitational Fishing Tournaments. An avid bowler, Bob achieved two 300 games, plus numerous high games and series’ and was inducted into the Mountain Home Bowling Hall of Fame in 2006. In addition, Bob built and flew remote control airplanes, and enjoyed golfing with family and friends.
Bob is survived by his wife, Helen Studnar of Mountain Home, AR; three daughters , Sally Studnar (Rich Long) of Salem, OR, Karen (George) Truell, Ellen (Tony) Griesi; two sons, Bobby (Sue) Studnar, and Jared (Trina) Studnar all of Mountain Home, AR; ten grandchildren, and six great-grandchildern; two sisters, Ruth Studnar Bohling, of Phoenix, AZ, and Kathy Studnar Jender of Sierra Vista, AZ; several nieces and nephews, and family pet Buddy.
He was prededed in death by his parents.
Visitation will be 5:00 - 8:00 pm, Thursday, January 2, 2013, with a Vigil Service at 7:00 pm, at Kirby & Family Funeral Services, 600 Hospital Drive, Mountain Home, AR. A funeral Mass will be celebrated in his honor at St. Peter The Fisherman Catholic Church, 249 Dyer Street Mountain Home, AR on January 3, 2014 at 11:00 am) with Father Norbert Rappold as celebrant. A luncheon gathering will follow Mass at the Church Hall. Burial will be private.
