Visitation for Robert Summers of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be Wednesday, April 26, 2017, from 3:00 until 4:00 pm, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home. Burial will be on Monday, May 1, 2017, in the Calvary Cemetery, Lincoln, Nebraska.
Robert passed away April 21, 2017, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 89. He was born December 29, 1927, in Holdrege, Nebraska, the son of Reuel and Edna Shanabager Summers. He married Marie Anna Dytrych on November 25, 1947, at Yankton County, South Dakota. He was a Civil Engineer for the Burlington Northern Sante Fe Railroad and was also a police officer for the city of Lincoln, Nebraska. Robert was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and lived in Mountain Home since moving from Lincoln, Nebraska, in 1989. He was the Post Bugler for the V.F.W. in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Robert is survived by his three sons, Charles (Pat) Summers of Summersville, SC, Michael (Lydia) Summers of Mountain Home, AR and Thomas (Jitka) Summers of Las Vegas, NV; daughter, Teresa (Jimmy) Patterson of Ft. Collins, CO; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Jon, Ian and Reuel; and two sisters, Judy and Jane.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; twins, son and daughter; and siblings, Kermit, Don, Joan and Richard.
