A Memorial Service for Roland “Rollie” George Ellis, 71, of Lakeview, AR will be 11AM Tuesday, September 30, 2014, at the First Baptist Church of Bull Shoals with the Reverend Jerry Backus officiating. Roland died suddenly September 25, 2014 at Mountain Home, AR.
Roland was born December 1, 1942 in Perham, MN to George and Mae Franklin Ellis. He married Karen Lindenmeyer almost 55 years ago on December 26, 1959 in Peru, IL. Roland attended LaSalle-Peru Township and Perham Minnesota High Schools. He proudly served his country as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army. Roland started and ran Illinois Valley Painting and Decorating for thirteen years before working at Sauer Sundstrand as a supervisor. Roland then went to work for Dav-Gar in Lacon, IL as a supervisor and Trans Technology Electronics in Peoria, IL as manufacturing manager. After moving to Lakeview, Arkansas he was owner operator of Drywall Plus till retirement. Roland became an award winning wood carver and loved to paint, fish, and Camp. He was a member of the North Arkansas Wood Carvers and the First Baptist Church in Bull Shoals, AR.
Roland is survived by his wife, Karen Ellis of Lakeview, AR; sons, Ricky Ellis (Julie) of Richfield, Utah, Robby Ellis (Tracy) of E. Peoria, IL and Brad Ellis (Lea) of Greer, S. Carolina; eleven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild as well as one on the way; brothers, Rusty, Rodney, Raymond and locally Randy Ellis (Debbie) of Gassville, AR; sisters, Karen, Kathy, Joyce, and Vickie; sister-in-law, Marla Zolli (Arnold) and brother-in-law, Terry Lindenmeyer (Susan) of Midway, AR. His parents, one brother, Richie, and one grandson, Rickie Jr. preceded him in death.
Memorials may be made to the first Baptist Church of Bull Shoals.
