Ronald "Ron" Ray Brixey of Mountain Home, Arkansas, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2023, in Mountain Home, Arkansas, at age 67. He was born in Mountain Home, Arkansas, on August 10, 1955, to Bob Brixey and Doris Darcie Brixey Burghard. He grew up in Gassville, Arkansas, where he spent countless hours at both the Starlite Skating Rink and Starlite Drive-In Theater where he lived with his parents and older brother, Dwight. He attended Gassville Grade School and later transferred to Mountain Home Elementary School. He graduated high school at Mountain Home in 1973.
After high school, Ron worked at Baxter Laboratory and then attended an automobile mechanics trade school in Harrison, Arkansas. In 1980, at the age of 25, Ron opened Precision Alignment in Gassville. He decided to become a welder in 1987. After he received his first welding certification, he moved to Tennessee where he worked for a locomotive manufacturer. While working, Ron completed at least seven other training certificates. He was later diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease (PD) at the age of 39, which unfortunately put an abrupt stop to his welding career. Ron returned to Mountain Home where he remained until his death.
Ron loved to travel with his favorite trip being a road trip to Alaska. He had many friends and never met a stranger. He loved people and always had time to talk. He had passions for trains and the history of the Civil War. He also loved giving out old tickets to the Starlite Drive-In to anyone who remembered it.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Doris Brixey Burghard and Bob Brixey and his stepfather, Joe Burghard.
Ron is survived by his brother, Dwight (Mahala Smithson) Brixey of Cheyenne, WY; nieces, Christian Brixey Cherek of Cheyenne, WY, and Cortney Brixey of Spring, TX; and three grandnieces, Arden and Evan Cherek of Cheyenne, WY, and Drew Stinnett of Spring, TX. Ron was a very loving uncle to all five nieces in addition to several “adopted” nieces that loved their Uncle Ron.
