Roy John Mehring of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, passed away May 25, 2022, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma at the age of 99. He was born December 17, 1922, in New York, New York, the son of John and Blanche Blair Mehring. Roy was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He married Eleanor Shipley on March 10, 1967, in Ponca City, Oklahoma, and was a Mechanical Engineer for Conoco Inc. Before moving to Tahlequah, Roy lived in Midway, Arkansas, since moving from Ponca City, Oklahoma, in 1992. He was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega, Emmanuel Church in Mountain Home, Arkansas, and the American Legion Post #14 in Ponca City, Oklahoma. In recent years, he moved back to Oklahoma.
Roy is survived by his daughter, Diana Mehring Williams of Australia; step-daughter, Lori Dawn Pease of Ponca City, Oklahoma; step-son, Darren Dirksen of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Lydia Williams of Australia, Natalie Wiens, Alyson Clark, Drew Clark, Amber Loftis, Mandi Smith, and Madison Pease; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Patricia Chamberlain; and son, Roy John Mehring II.
A Graveside Funeral Service, for Roy will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 2, 2022, at Mount Olive Cemetery, Nardin, Oklahoma, with Pastor Kyle Magenity officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Vance Air Force Base Honor Guard.
Memorials may be made to the Disabled Veterans Association.
