Memorial Services for Roy Irving Walsh of Gassville, Arkansas, will be 11:00 AM Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Nancy Taylor officiating.


Roy died Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House, at the age of 82. He was born October 24, 1927 in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Lawrence and Ester Walsh. He married the love of his life, June Dahlin on February 16, 1957 at Blue Island, Illinois and worked as a Refrigeration Mechanic for Penn Central Railroad. Roy Walsh was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He lived in Gassville, Arkansas since 1989 moving from Brookfield, Illinois. He was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers for 49 years. He enjoyed casino gaming and was a kind and gentle man who liked spending time with family.


Roy is survived by 3 sons, Craig (Helenn) Walsh of Milford, KS, Robert Walsh of the home and Richard Walsh of San Diego, CA; 1 sister, Doris Meyer of Fairbault, MN; grandson, Michael Walsh of Kansas City, MO and special friends, John and Pat Bittner of Bull Shoals, AR and Bob and Micky Middleton of Gassville, AR.


He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.


Memorials may be made to the Hospice of the Ozarks or American Cancer Society.
