Dorothy "Ruth" Truax entered into rest Wednesday, November 19, 2008 in Mountain Home at the age of 74 years and 1 day. Ruth was born Sunday, November 18, 1934 in Bennett, Nebraska, daughter of Lewis Russell and Anna S. Bratt Russell. She met Lee Truax at a skating rink in Lincoln, Nebraska, and he proposed to her on their first date - a true case of love at first sight, and they were married on April 16, 1955 at Lincoln, Nebraska. They were married for 50 loving years. She worked as an executive secretary until the children were born, when she devoted herself to being a stay-at-home mom to raise three kids. Ruth and Lee found their Mountain Home in 1995 when Lee retired, returning to the Ozarks where they had vacationed. They moved here for the beauty, and stayed for the friendly people. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, the American Legion Auxillary, was an avid flower gardner, loved people and animals, and was a big fan of Country Western music. Survivors: Ruth Truax is survived by her son, Mark Daniel Truax of Portland, OR, daughters Toni Lee Ann (Richard) Earl of Tecumseh, NE, and Lisa Kaye (Michael) Rhoades of Ft. Collins, CO. Preceded in Death by: She was preceded in death by her husband, Leland Mack Truax and her parents. Funeral: A memorial service will be at a later date. Burial: Burial will be in the Wyuka Cemetery in Lincoln, Nebraska. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund.
