Funeral services for Ruth Lenore Wrightam, age 85, of Mountain Home, AR, formerly of Pontiac, Illinois will be at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 6, 2009, at Promise Land Bible Church, with Pastor Jim Beard officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8 P.M. Monday, October 5, 2009 at the Kirby and Family Funeral Home.

Ruth died Friday, October 2, 2009 at home with her loving husband at her side. Born in Peoria Illinois in 1924, Ruth married Marvin L. Wrightam of Pontiac on December 29, 1945. She was a loyal and loving parent, grandmother, friend and sister. Ruth was a book lover, talented artist and energetic quilter. She was an active member of Amity Town Society of Painters, the Area Art Club of Mountain Home, and Home Extension Service. Her critically-acclaimed watercolors and acrylics often feature rural landscapes and vintage structures of Illinois, Arkansas, and Missouri. Her first quilt design, "Town and Country" was featured in the Holiday Crafts issue of Better Homes and Gardens, and was purchased and published in the 1985 book "American Patchwork and Quilting". Ruth was a graphic artist in Peoria and worked as a proofreader for Johnson Press, Inc. in Pontiac, Illinois, before moving to Mountain Home in 1985. She was a member of the Promise Land Bible Church.

Ruth is survived by her devoted husband Marvin, daughter Linda (John) Erickson of Kansas City, MO, son Fred (Sheri) Wrightam of Rochester, IL, 3 grandchildren, Jennifer, Elias, and Carolyn Wrightam, her sister Patricia Weck of Ft. Lauderdale, FL., and nieces Elizabeth Bumgarner, Lynn Lynch, Dawn Frankel and Jill Weck. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Gladys Long. Burial will be in Promise Land Cemetery, Mountain Home, AR with Dave Bell, Joe Gagliardo, Bob Greene, Chuck Herlien, Rob Robbinson, Harl Seaton as pallbearers and Jon Dietiker, Bill Garner, and John Oltman as honorary pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to the Promise Land Bible Church and other charities of choice.
