Shelly Medley

Shelly Karen Cordell Medley, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2025, at the age of 68 in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Born on November 10, 1956, in Corsicana, Texas, she was the daughter of Ralph and Lucille Schronk Cordell.

Shelly married Christopher Medley on March 25, 1978, in Hillsboro, Texas, after which they relocated to Louisiana. She dedicated her professional life to both the arts and administration, working at Harding University. In 2020, Shelly and Christopher moved to the beautiful surroundings of Mountain Home, Arkansas. A member of the Church of Christ, she was known for her warm spirit and commitment to her faith.

An artist at heart, Shelly found joy in painting and was an active participant in several art guilds in Louisiana. Gardening, cooking, and reading were also passions that brought happiness to her life, but her greatest joy came from her family and the time spent together.

Shelly is survived by her husband, Christopher Medley, and their two sons, Josh (Amanda) Medley and Zach (Claire) Medley. She cherished her three grandchildren, Joel, Dean, and Jack, who brought immense joy into her life. She is also survived by her sister, Brenda (Ted) Williford; her sister-in-law, Ginger Cordell; nieces and nephews, Melanie Simon, Jeff Williford, Jennifer Kidd, and Ralph Cordell; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. Shelly was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Lucille Cordell, and her brother, Allen Cordell.

A Funeral Service to celebrate Shelly's life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the Reppell Diabetes Clinic in care of the Baxter Health Foundation.
