Sherry Angela Ross passed away at the age of 78 in Mountain Home, Arkansas. She was born in Mobile, Alabama on April 3, 1945. She attended Mobile public school system and later graduated from the Enid, Oklahoma Beauty School. In her free time, Sherry enjoyed crocheting blankets for her family, studying the Bible, performing sign language to music, sewing for Barbie dolls, traveling to visit loved ones, and adoring her dogs along with her two cherished cats. Sherry led a fulfilling life as she owned and operated a beauty shop for several years and also contributed to the hospitality industry. Sherry's proudest accomplishment was overcoming alcohol and drug addictions in her middle age, an achievement she attributed to Jesus Christ. She was a beacon of strength and inspiration to those around her.
She is survived by her children: Jennifer Leigh (Greg) Wood of Mountain Home, AR; Destiny Dawn Boone of Waukomis, OK; Marvin Earl (Katie) Boone of Mandeville, LA; and Sherman Chad (Kathy) Smith of Mobile, AL. Sherry's legacy lives on through her grandchildren: Seth (Emilly) Wood, Caleb Wood, Tasha Young, Tiffany (Chris) Smith, Terry (Lacey) Young, Brittany (Zack) Spellins, Bailey (Mike) Campbell, Jordan (Jonathan) Moore, Levi Boone; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Additionally, she is survived by her sisters Jackie Thrasher of Spanish Fort, AL and Rosalyn Bowles of Mobile, AL.
Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, Maude Eleanor Rohmer and Julian Butler Hodges, four husbands, Marvin E. Boone, Sherman Smith, Gyle S. Ross, David Hardy; her sister Madilyn Irby; brother Johnny Hodges; and daughter Angela Hodges Baker.
A Graveside Service will be held at 10:30 am on March 9, 2024, at Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery in Gassville, Arkansas to honor the remarkable life lived by Sherry Ross. Pallbearers will be Levi Boone, Earl Boone, Seth Wood, Caleb Wood, Sherman Chad Smith, and Tyler Smith.
Memorials may be made to the Food Bank of North Central Arkansas, Hospice of the Ozarks, or a charity of choice.
