Shirley Ann Maus of Mountain Home, Arkansas passed away July 14, 2016 at the age of 84 in Mountain Home, Arkansas.
She was born Feb. 5, 1932 in Grant County, Wisconsin to Fred and Susie Blum. She graduated from Bloomington High School in 1949 and went on to the Finley School of Nursing in Dubuque, Iowa. She graduated as an R.N. Shirley practiced her profession in a variety of places in the Dubuque area and retired at the age of 62 from her last employer the B.V. M. Sisters of Charity. Shirley married Ralph O. Holm on March 7, 1953 who died in 1957. They had a son Kenneth Lee who died in infancy of S.I.D's disease. Shirley married James J. Maus on May 14, 1960 in Dubuque, Iowa and they adopted two sons Gregory P. and David J. Maus.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, and son Kenneth, two sisters and three brothers-in-law. She is survived by her former husband James Maus, a sister Alice in Florida, her son Gregory (Lori) of Fort Worth, TX. and grandchildren Larissa and Nathan; also, her son David (Jennifer) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and grandchildren Tyler, Tucker, and Hannah.
Shirley had a close relationship with her Lord, Jesus Christ and put her faith into practice as a faithful prayer warrior during a long illness.
A memorial service will be held on August 12, 2016, at First United Methodist Church in Mountain Home, Arkansas, at 11:00 am. The family will greet friends from 10:00 am until time of service at the church. Interment will be private in the Memorial Gardens in Dubuque, Iowa.
Memorials may be directed to a charity of choice, Hospice of the Ozarks in Mountain Home or First United Methodist Church of Mountain Home.
