Stephen B. Wilson, M.D., 62, Neenah, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 28, 2017, in Arkansas, while on his annual fishing trip with his brother and friends. Steve was born on December 29, 1954, in Shullsburg, WI, the son of Boyd and Peggy (O'Neill) Wilson. He grew up in Benton, WI, and graduated from Benton High School in 1973. Steve was united in marriage to Judy Day on August 9, 1980, in Platteville, WI. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville with a degree in Medical Technology, and received his medical degree at the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1984. Steve served his residency and fellowship in the Milwaukee area. He practiced as a pulmonary and sleep physician in Oshkosh since 1995, and was recently employed by Aurora Medical Group. As a dedicated husband and father, he enjoyed watching his girls participate in sporting events, exceed in academics and music, and then follow him into the medical field. Steve loved traveling and took frequent trips to Alaska and Arkansas for fishing, to the West Coast to visit wineries, to Blackjack Mountain to ski, and to Florida to golf. He fished the Fever River near Benton for smallmouth bass whenever he could. Steve was thrilled to attend the 2017 Masters Golf Tournament with friends. He was a member of Saint Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Neenah, and a longtime member of Ridgeway Country Club in Neenah.
Steve is survived by his wife of 36 years: Judy; 2 daughters: Helen Wilson, Florida; and Emma Wilson, California; 2 siblings: Suzy (fiancé Steve Nelson) Chicoine, Appleton; and Thomas (Alicia) Wilson, Waunakee; 6 brothers- and sisters-in-law: Steve (Tammi) Day, Bill (Sue) Day, Don Day, Kate (Jack) Carey, Mary (Marc) Schambow, and Dan (Jamie) Day; a special uncle and aunt: George and Lorna Burns; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents and his father- and mother-in-law: Ralph and Madge Day.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Neenah, with Fr. Michael Ingold officiating. Interment will be at St. Patrick Catholic Church Cemetery, Benton, WI at a later date. Visitation will be on Tuesday at the Kessler Funeral Home, 304 S. Commercial St., Neenah from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., and again on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
