Sumner Lee "Bud" Rogers

Sumner Lee "Bud" Rogers, 90, of Mountain Home, Arkansas, peacefully passed away on November 26, 2024. Born on June 29, 1934, in Berwyn, Illinois, he was the beloved son of Ken and Mary Mitana Rogers. On June 19, 1954, he married Lorraine Kubin in Brookfield, Illinois, and together they built a loving family.


Bud started working with his father in 1950 at the gas station. After several years, he took over operations of the Bud and Ken Rogers Mobile Service Station in Brookfield, Illinois. After he sold the gas station, Bud dedicated his career to maintenance work at Darien Public Schools in Darien, Illinois, where he made meaningful contributions to the community. In 1996, he relocated to Mountain Home, Arkansas, where he became an active member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church. Known for his craftsmanship, Bud was an accomplished carpenter who took great pride in his work.


He is survived by his loving wife, Lorraine Rogers of Mountain Home, AR; three sons, Michael (Doreen) Rogers, Ken (Jules) Rogers, and Larry (Laura) Rogers; daughter, Barbara Skonicki; eight grandchildren, Kevin, Matthew (Carly), Justin, Lindsey (Tony), Nicole, Adam (Leah), Becca (A.J.), and James (Elyssa); and eleven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ken and Mary Rogers, and his sister, Jean Dick.


Visitation will take place on Friday, December 6, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Kirby & Family Funeral Home, followed by a Vigil Service at 7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 10:00 AM at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, with Father Norbert Rappold as the Celebrant. A Graveside Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the Clarendon Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church in Mountain Home, Arkansas. The arrangements are entrusted to Kirby and Family Funeral and Cremation Services in Mountain Home, Arkansas.
