A Celebration of Life for Susan A. Cheek of Gassville, Arkansas, will be 11:00 AM Friday, February 19, 2010 at Grace Baptist Church, with Pastor Harvey Seehusen officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until service time at the church. Susan Cheek died Monday, February 15, 2010 in Gassville, Arkansas, at the age of 57. She was born in Elgin, IL, daughter of Gilbert and Thelma Stogdiill Garcia. She married Charles Cheek on November 19, 1983 at Woodstock, Illinois and worked as a Social Activities Director for Gassville Nursing Center. Susan lived in Gassville, Arkansas since 1990 moving from Belvidere, Illinois. She was a member of the Cotter VFW Auxiliary and Avon Honor Society. She was a 1971 graduate of Woodstock, Illinois High School. She loved her grandchildren, was a Cub fan, and enjoyed camping, boating and the mountains. Susan Cheek is survived by her husband, Charles Cheek, 3 daughters, Johnna Michelle (Scott) Chenevey of Mountain Home, AR, Suzanna (Luke) Morris of Cotter, AR and Elizabeth (Brandon) Taylor of Gassville, AR; father and step-mother, Gilbert (Genevieve) Garcia of Bull Shoals, AR; 2 brothers, John (Stephanie) Garcia of Lake Zurich, IL and Michael (Jeanie) Garcia of Caruthersville, MO; 3 sisters, Patricia (Clinton) Brannan of Mountain Home, AR, Carol Goyack of Rockford, IL and Judie (Sam) Visconti of Woodstock, IL; grandchildren, Addison, Erika and Will and a special friend, Cindy Fowler of Moline, IL. She was preceded in death by her mother, Thelma Stogdill Garcia. Memorials may be made to the Gassville Nursing Center Activity Fund. Arrangements are by Kirby & Family Funeral & Cremation Services.
