Susan Lurline Mackowiak passed away peacefully at her cabin in Gassville, Arkansas, on August 18, 2024, at the age of 75. Susan was born October 13, 1948, in Evergreen Park, Illinois to William and Mary Sue Pritchett Mezger. A lifelong lover of books, mystery movies, birds, and traveling, Susan was deeply connected to her Christian faith her entire life and was a devoted member of Twin Lakes Baptist Church, along with her husband, the late Dennis Mackowiak. She cherished the friendships she made at Twin Lakes Baptist Church and enjoyed participating in game nights and other events with her church family. As a nanny for over two decades, Susan loved spending time with the children she cared for. Known for her infectious laugh and cheerful disposition, Susan enjoyed sharing stories, laughter, and memories with her beloved family.
She is survived by her sister, Laura Mezger Cocalas; brother, Johnny (Marilyn) Mezger; and three children, Sheri (Daniel) Liberatore, William (Chris) Wesolowski, and Kelly Varma. Susan will be dearly missed by the friends, family, and loved ones who were blessed to know her - but they feel peace in knowing that she has joined her Creator in Heaven.
Susan was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and siblings William (Fran) Mezger, Steven (Sharon) Mezger, and Kimberly (Hank) Craven.
A memorial service will be hosted by Susan’s family this fall with more information to come. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Twin Lakes Baptist Church in Mountain Home.
