A Celebration of Life for Thomas Michael McCormick of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be at 11:00 am, Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Heith Hogan officiating.
Thomas passed away September 20, 2012, at the Twin Lakes Therapy and Living Center in Flippin, Arkansas, at the age of 82. He was born May 16, 1930, in Waco, Texas the son of Clarence and Marium (Petty) McCormick. Thomas lived in Mountain Home, Arkansas since 1999, moving from Northern California.
Mr. McCormick graduated from the College of the Pacific (presently the University of the Pacific) in Stockton, CA. Thomas was drafted in to the NFL in 1952, playing for the Los Angeles Rams, New York Giants, and San Francisco 49ers. Later on Mr. McCormick was an assistant coach for the Minnesota Vikings and concluded his NFL career as an assistant to Vince Lombardi with the Green Bay Packers.
Thomas relocated his family to Foster City, CA and resumed a teaching career at El Camino High School in South San Francisco until his retirement in 1987. During this time Mr. McCormick coached the football team at El Camino and taught Physical Fitness, Math, and Science. He also enjoyed being a partner in a commercial Abalone diving business in Northern California?s Pacific Coast.
Thomas is survived by his son, Wes McCormick of Citrus Heights, CA; daughter, Kelly McHenry of Scotts Valley, CA; granddaughter, Ella McHenry of Scotts Valley, CA; and his longtime caregiver, Patricia Farris of Mountain Home, AR.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Patricia Nail.
