Thomas Anthony Tatar was born in Chicago, Illinois, on September 21,1941 to Andrew Tatar and Helen Franosz. He grew up in Chicago with his two brothers, Andy and Jerry. His fearlessness and love of adventure started at an early age and stayed with him throughout his life. On November 2, 1963, he married Patricia Motisi and they later moved their young family, children Ken and Julie, to Green Bay, Wisconsin. Tom was a dedicated father and hard worker. During his life he worked many different jobs, often more than two at a time to support his family. Book jogger, carpet cleaner, antenna installer, longshoreman, bricklayer, and barber to name a few. However, his longtime career was as a fireman for the Green Bay Fire Department from which he retired as a Captain.
Tom and his family had many great adventures together whether camping, skiing, biking or taking car trips or motorcycle trips cross country. He loved to fish, whether on a sunny day or ice fishing in the cold of winter. Being on the water with a fishing pole in his hand was his church. Best of all, he was his own person who knew what he liked, Kraft Spaghetti, The PBS NewsHour, polka dancing, and joyfully singing his favorite songs at the top of his lungs and inventing his own lyrics as he saw fit.
Tom died on September 11, 2024, in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Even though Tom could have prickly edges, he had great and deep love, fierce loyalty, kindness and compassion for his friends and family. Tom lived large and will be greatly missed.
