A Funeral Service for Tony Vance Makin of Gamaliel, Arkansas, will be 10:00 am, Saturday, August 1, 2015, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Jesse Tate officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, August 1, 2015, from 9:00 am until service time at the funeral home.
Tony passed away July 29, 2015, in Gamaliel, Arkansas at the age of 77. He was born November 22, 1937, in Memphis, Tennessee, the son of Vernard and Sadie Mae Benero Makin. He married Janeice Belk on November 27, 1960, at Egypt, Arkansas and worked as a Machinist for Precision Motor Works. Tony was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Tony lived in Gamaliel since moving from Collierville, Tennessee, in 1999. He was a Cub Scout Master and enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hiking, and being outdoors.
Tony is survived by his wife, Janeice Makin of Gamaliel, AR; two sons, Ricky (Jeanne) Makin of Byhalia, MS, and Jeff (Kesha) Makin of Olive Branch, MS; six grandchildren, Leslie Leard of Collierville, TN, Lisa Leard of Collierville, TN, Dylan Makin of Byhalia, MS, Austin Makin of Byhalia, MS, Brennen Makin of Olive Branch, MS, and Beau Makin of Olive Branch, MS.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Karen Leard; and two brothers, David Makin and Billy Makin.
Burial will be in the Custer-Herron Cemetery, Henderson, Arkansas. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Air Force Honor Guard from Little Rock Air Force Base.
