Velma Carter

Velma Carter died Saturday, March 1, 2008 in Bull Shoals at the age of 93. Velma Carter was born Thursday, March 12, 1914 in Cartney, Arkansas, daughter of Edward Caststeel and Mary Jane Sinor. She married John A. Carter on January 22, 1967 at Bull Shoals, Arkansas. She owned and operated the Carter's Lighthouse Point Resort. Velma lived in Bull Shoals all her life. Survivors: Velma L. Carter is survived by 2 sons, Larry (Debbie) Brainerd of Bull Shoals, AR and A.T. (Donna) Brainerd of Texas and several local half brothers and sisters. Preceded in Death by: She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Carter and parents. Visitation: Visitation will be from 5-8 P.M., Monday, March 3 at Kirby & Family Funeral & Cremation Services, Bull Shoals. Funeral: Funeral Service for Velma L. Carter of Bull Shoals, AR, will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at Kirby & Family Funeral & Cremation Services, Bull Shoals, with Reverend Jerry Backus officiating. Burial: Burial will be in the Gassville Cemetery.
