A Memorial Service for Verdelle M. Jenkins of Gassville, Arkansas, will be at Sylacauga, Alabama at a later date.
Verdelle passed away July 1, 2012, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 93. She was born November 25, 1918, in Sylacauga, Alabama, the daughter of William and Maggie Gamble McClure. She married Gove S. "Bob" Jenkins, Sr. on October 1, 1945, at Elkton, Maryland and was a purchasing agent for E.I. DuPont. Verdelle lived in Gassville, Arkansas since 2007, moving from Orlando, Florida. She was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star and attended the Mountain Home Baptist Church. She was a mall walker in Orlando, Florida and logged over 1000 miles. Verdelle was a hospital volunteer for over 20 years.
Verdelle is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Larry D.) Shirley, of Gassville, AR; 3 grandchildren, Kelly Holliday, of Long Beach, MS, Jaime Stevens, of Henderson, NV, Lisa Shirley, of Memphis, TN; one sister, Challice Humphrey, of Sylacauga, AL.; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her son, Gove S. "Scott" Jenkins, Jr., six brothers and five sisters.
Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Sylacauga, Alabama.
