Vernon Allwardt

Funeral Services for Retired Petty Officer First Class, Vernon Billy Allwardt of Wichita, Kansas will be private. Vernon passed away Friday, August 31, 2012, in Gassville, Arkansas, at the age of 83. Vernon was born October 10, 1928, in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Vernon Fred and Idonia Edna Henn Allwardt. Mr. Allwardt was an Aviation Machinist Mate, Reciprocating Engine Mechanic, First Class for the United States Navy and a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Vernon was an avid photographer and enjoyed leather working and wood working. He was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion in Wichita, Kansas. Vernon is survived by his three daughters; Ellen Jones of Henderson, Arkansas; Barb (Jack) Coles of Lee's Summit, Missouri; and Tenia (Tony) Apadaca of San Pedro, California; four grandchildren and four great-grandsons. Vernon was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Patty. Memorials will be made to the First Baptist Church of Henderson Food Pantry.
