Virginia Lou Hodges Ashley of Salem, Arkansas, passed away February 3, 2022, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 80. She was born August 8, 1941, in Viola, Arkansas, the daughter of Horace and Nora Stephens Hodges. Virginia put herself through school in San Diego, Ca and became LVN. She worked for many years as a LVN, before furthering her education and becoming a RN all while taking care of the bills and raising two children. As a Registered Nurse she worked at Salem Hospital, Baxter Regional Medical Center and as a traveling nurse. When Virginia retired she worked in outpatient surgery for Dr Marx and worked at Burnett Lincoln Paden Clinic. She enjoyed teaching exercise class for the Silver Sneakers.
Virginia is survived by her son, Clyde (Mae) Ashley of Tucson, AZ; daughter, Rhonda (Pat) Black of Mountain Home, AR; son, John "Carlo" Ashley of WA; son, Thomas Ashley of Salem, AR; grandchildren, Aaron (Jillian) Ashley, David Black, Stacy, Brandon and Sean Ashley; great-grandchildren, Madeline; brother, Cranford (Linda Gay) Hodges; sister-in-law, Pauline; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; eight brothers Cleo Harris, Elmo Hodges, Paul Hodges, Jarrel Hodges, Woodrow Hodges, James Hodges, Buel Hodges and Bradley Hodges; and two sisters, Marquerite Hodges and Katheryn Young.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 9, 2022, from 9:30 am until service time, at First Baptist Church of Salem. A Funeral Service for Virginia will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at First Baptist Church of Salem, with Brother John Hodges officiating. Burial will be in the Elizabeth Cemetery, Elizabeth, Arkansas, with Clyde, Pat, David, Bob, Kevin and James as pallbearers and Cranford Hodges, Tommy Ashley and John "Carlo" Ashley as honorary pallbearers.
