Virginia B. Hatfield was born December 25, 1920 in Greenville, South Carolina. She was the daughter of Virgil and Olga Pearson Butler. She was proud of her Swedish heritage, especially Nisse and Inger Hult of Lomma, Sweden. She married Philip Hatfield on February 1, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois. She graduated from Evanston Hospital School of Nursing in 1943 and was employed as a registered nurse with Borg-Warner Research Center for twenty-five years. Virginia B. Hatfield lived in Mountain Home, Arkansas since moving from Des Plaines, Illinois in October 1998. She enjoyed horseback riding, traveling, theatre and ballet. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Des Plaines, the Des Plaines Historical Society, and a member of St. Martin's Episcopal Church in Des Plaines, Illinois. She and Mr. Hatfield also volunteered for the Senior Citizens Center in Des Plaines, working with the Meals on Wheels Program. Virginia B. Hatfield passed away at Baxter Regional Medical Center on November 25, 2005, at the age of 84 years, and 11 months. Survivors: Two daughters, Kris (Fred) Polich of Bull Shoals, Arkansas and Leslie Hatfield of Griffith, Indiana; two grandchildren, Virginia (Ginne) and husband Shannon Polich Palmer of Merrill, Oregon and Michael Polich of San Marcos, California; granddaughter-in-law, Robyn Polich of Norfolk, Virginia and great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Elizabeth Polich of Norfolk, Virginia Preceded in Death by: Her parents and husband Visitation: 3:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, December 1, 2005, Kirby-Boaz Funeral Home Chapel in Mountain Home, Arkansas Funeral: A graveside service for Virginia B.
