Walter Brown

Walter R. Brown died peacefully on February 28, 2020. Walter was born on August 17, 1935 in Aurora, Illinois. Preceding him in death were his parents, Walter M. Brown and Helen Oliphant Brown of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and his brother, Edward Norton Brown of Indianapolis, Indiana. Walter was a businessman in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania for many years as the owner of the Big Red Q Quickprint printing company. He was an incredibly generous man and life-long blood donor. Walter was proud to be a 32 Degree Mason and the Past Master of Aurora Lodge 254 AF & AM in Aurora, IL in 1971. In Bethlehem, PA, he was a member of both the Shrine and Lions Clubs. In 1988, Walter retired to Cherokee Village, Arkansas where he was a member of the Cherokee Village Men’s Golf Association. He was also the Secretary and Treasurer of the Cherokee Village Horseshoe Pitchers since 1989. In 1997, Walter received the Pride Award in association of his civic endeavors for supporting and sustaining the betterment and beautification of Cherokee Village.

Walter is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Sara Ann Brown and his sister, Carol Brown. Walter was also immensely proud of his children, Julia Ann Schriner, Walter J Brown, Jane Elizabeth Williams and Andrew Hampton Brown and their families with nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The family thanks Walter’s friends and neighbors in Cherokee Village for many, many years of joy. Walter attended the United Methodist Church of Cherokee Village although there will be no service. Sara Brown will remain at Eagle Crest Nursing Home where she is happy and well cared for.

In lieu of flowers, kindly make a donation to the Ministerial Alliance Food Room at the Spring River Presbyterian Church 151 Wahpeton Hill Road Hardy, AR 72542 where Walter volunteered.
