Walter Geery

May 17, 1926 — January 3, 2007

Walter was born May 17, 1926 in Chicago, Ill. Mr. Geery served in the U.S. Army during World War II as an Infantry Sgt. in Germany. He retired from Allied Signal in Des Plaines, Illinois., and moved to Mountain Home in 1985 from Westmont, Illinois. Survivors: his wife, Virginia, a son, Walt (Robbie) Geery, his brother, Richard (Pauline) Geery, a sister-in-law Janeth Murphy, brothers-in-law, Glenn (Jean)Fischer and Alois Polhorsky. Also surviving are a son, Paul (Debra) Geery of Riverside, Illinois and a daughter Kathleen Geery, of West Plains, Missouri. He will also be missed by seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in Death by: a great granddaughter, his sisters-in-law, Ruth Hanke and Nancy Polhorsky; and his brothers-in-law, Robert Hanke, Frank Murphy and Lee Fischer. Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery in Mountain Home Visitation: Twin Lakes Baptist Church on Friday at 1:00 P.M. Funeral: Twin Lakes Baptist Church at 2:00 P.M. with Dr. Sam Bailey officiating. Burial: Kirby-Tucker memorial Cemetery Memorials: Twin Lakes Baptist Church in Mountain Home. Honorary Bearers: Hans Veldhuis, Herb Gay and John Kelly. Active Bearers: Joe Mason, Glenn Taylor, Dale Tollander, Dan Geery, Bryan Moore and Nathan Moore Additional Notes: Military honors will be provided by the North Central Arkansas Veteran's Council, Ozark VFW post 3246 honor guard.
