Graveside services for Walter Lucien Stockham of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Alley-White American Legion Post #52 honor guard. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Monday, December 13, 2010 at Kirby & Family Funeral Home.
Walter died Thursday, December 9, 2010 at Care Manor Nursing Center, at the age of 83. He was born February 21, 1927 in Lewiston, Illinois, the son of Cecil and Ellen Courtney Stockham. He married Stella M. Cole Newberry on May 11, 1984 at Pekin, Illinois and worked as a heating and air conditioning installer and repairman for Caterpillar Tractor Co. Walter Stockham was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. Walter lived in Mountain Home, Arkansas since 1990 moving from Pekin, IL.
He is survived by his wife, Stella Stockham of Mountain Home, 1 step-son, 3 step-daughters, 11 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and 3 sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army.
