Warren Heydt

A funeral service for Warren Heydt of Bull Shoals, AR will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday June 14, 2011 at Bull Shoals Presbyterian Church with Reverend Terry Hart officiating. Warren died June 9, 2011 at Hospice House of the Ozarks surrounded by his family. He was 95 years old.

Warren was born April 8, 1916 in New Brunswick, NJ to Percy and Pearl Lippmann Heydt. He was a veteran of World War II, beginning his Army service in 1942. He married Eleanor Olson, his beloved wife of 68 years, in 1943 prior to being shipped overseas and assigned to the 1st Infantry Division, 18th Infantry Regiment. Involved in the Battle of the Bulge, he fought in France, Germany and Czechoslovakia. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart and achieved the rank of Battalion Sgt Major.

Following WWII, Warren attended Agricultural and Technical College at Morrisville, NY. After graduation he moved with his family to Massapequa, Long Island, NY where he commuted daily to his management job with the New York City Transit Authority. He was an avid gardener, photographer, carpenter and landscaper. Warren was a dedicated member of the Presbyterian Community Church as Elder, Clerk of Session, and head of the Finance Committee. In 1985 Warren and Eleanor retired to Bull Shoals, AR, where he added boating and fishing to his favorite hobbies and continued his membership and service at Bull Shoals Presbyterian Church.

Warren is survived by his son, Richard Heydt (Lynda) of Bull Shoals; daughters, Judith Heydt Luetzen of Bull Shoals, and Carolyn Heydt of Longmont, CO; grandchildren, Kelly Nicholson (Nick), Beth Truitt (Jon), Ken Gooley (Leontine), Kirk Heydt (Kristin), Peter Heydt (Elisse), and Mark Heydt (Jolene); great-grand children, Matthew, Timothy, Jade and Kennedy; and a very large number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Eleanor, his brother Kenneth Heydt; two grandchildren, Karin Suzanne Heydt and Erik Richard Heydt, and one great-grandchild, Kaylee Breanne Gooley.

Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. prior to the funeral.

Burial will be in Kirby?s Tucker Memorial Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Bull Shoals Presbyterian Church.
