A Celebration of Life for Wava Jean Thompson of Lakeview, Arkansas, will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, October 10, 2013, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel in Bull Shoals.
Wava passed away October 4, 2013, in Berryville, Arkansas, at the age of 85. She was born February 6, 1928, in Talmedge, Kansas, the daughter of Sam and Pearl Heinz Cowan. She married Ellwood "Al" Watts on November 2, 1946, at Manhattan, Kansas, and worked as an activities coordinator for Flippo's Nursing Home. After Ellwood passed away, she married George Thompson on May 6, 1981, at Harrison, Arkansas, and was a salesclerk for the Dayton Company. Wava lived in Lakeview since moving from St. Paul, Minnesota, in 1978. She was a member of the Eagles Lodge #3183 FOE, Hoevel-Barnett V.F.W. Post #1341 Auxiliary, and the White River Sam's Club. Wava was a former president of the Eagles Lodge #3183 FOE, and was a three-time former president of the Lakeview Community Club. She enjoyed painting, playing BINGO, and visiting with family and friends.
Wava is survived by her son, Frank Watts of Berryville, AR, grandson, Samuel Watts of Berryville, AR, brother, Richard Cowan of Abilene, KS, sister, Marilyn (Glen) Douglas of KS, several nieces and nephews, Linda (Ernie) Fowler, Melanie (Jeff) Miller, Jan Weiss, Gene Weiss, Robert Cowan, Jeff (Cyndi) Douglas, Steve (Vicki) Douglas, and Debbie (Jeffrey) Phurston, and a host of extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands, Ellwood "Al" Watts and George Thompson; brother, Robert Cowan, and sister, Louise Lantz.
Entombment will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Mausoleum, Mountain Home, Arkansas.
Memorials may be made to Salvation Army or a charity of choice.
