Will Rogers Fischer

Will Rogers Fischer, 89, of Mountain Home, Arkansas, passed away on November 14, 2024. He was born on May 30, 1935, in Fort Myers, Florida, to Erwin and Elizabeth Flischer. Will proudly served the United States Navy from 1952 until 1975, dedicating over two decades to his country. He found joy and companionship when he met Marlene in Florida, and they were united in marriage on October 12, 1998, in Blowing Rock, North Carolina.

In 2014, Will and Marlene moved to Mountain Home from the picturesque Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina, where he continued to express his creativity through woodworking. A self-taught craftsman, he created numerous pieces by hand, including handcrafted banjos, which he constructed despite his tone-deafness. His legacy is evident in their home, filled with beautiful cabinets, bookcases, and other cherished items he built.

Will is survived by his loving wife, Marlene Fischer of Mountain Home, AR; four children, Gregory (Celia) Fischer, William Fischer, Michael Fischer, and Robert (Shelley) Fischer; step-son, Mark (Cindy) Burgess; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; step-daughter-in-law, Debora (Ken) Anderson; brothers, Eugene Fischer lovingly known as Fritz and Johnny (Sissy) Fischer and sister, Mickey. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Emily and Virginia and step-son, Craig Burgess.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Will's honor on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 2:00 PM, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel. The service will be officiated by Heather Marsalis, Celebrant, with military honors provided by the United States Navy and the Alley-White American Legion Post #52 Honor Guards. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House.
