A Memorial Service for William "Bill" Edward Jeffrey of Lakeview, Arkansas, will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, October 1, 2016, at First Presbyterian Church Yellville, with Reverend Dr. Fred Taylor officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Army Honor Guard.
William "Bill" passed away September 29, 2016, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 83. He was born January 29, 1933, in Mineola, New York, the son of William Everett and Florence Box Jeffrey. At 23 Bill came down with Polio and suffered with Post-Polio Syndrome later in life. Bill married Ada Cruver on July 5, 1964, at Wantagh, New York and worked as an Audio Visual Technician for Wantagh Union Free School District. William "Bill" was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the Korean War and the Nuclear Testing Program "Operation Castle" on Enewetak Island in the Marshall Islands. William "Bill" lived in Lakeview since 1990, moving from New Jersey. He was an active member of the Bull Shoals Historical Society and the Bull Shoals-Lakeview Rotary Club as the club historian and newsletter editor for 15 years. Bill and Ada shared a love of covered bridges, traveling on photo safaris to take pictures all over the United States, and belonged to several Covered Bridge societies. He was active in the Polio Survivors Association and Rotary's PolioPlus campaign. Bill's granddaughters & great-grandaughter affectionately called him PopPop and his favorite past time was receiving pictures of Maci.
William "Bill" is survived by his wife, Ada Jeffrey of Lakeview, AR; son, William (Kim) Jeffrey; grandaughters, Lauren Jeffrey and Erin (Jason) McKey and great-granddaughter, Maci McKey all of Douglasville, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the Bill and Ada's church, the First Presbyterian Church of Yellville.
