William Dost

A Memorial Service for William Frederick Dost ?Coach? of Lakeview, AR formerly of Claremore, OK will be held 2PM Wednesday December 14th 2011, at the First Baptist Church of Claremore, OK with Dr. LM Woodson officiating. Coach died Thursday December 8th, 2011, at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, AR. Coach was born September 30, 1923, at Philadelphia, PA to Emil Frederick Paul And Emma Kuehne Dost. He married Rosemary Podpechan May 29, 1948, at Claremore, OK. Coach attended the University of Tulsa and played in the Sugar Bowl of 1943. After the Sugar Bowl he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp to serve in the South Pacific during World War II. Returning from the war he finished his education and then went on to a long career of teaching and coaching. He was a mentor and coach for many young athletes and students. Coach was inducted into the University of Tulsa and New Jersey Athletic Hall of Fame. He was an All-American Swimming Champion holding the national record for 1943 in the forty-yard freestyle. Coach loved hunting, fishing, woodworking, feeding his birds and playing golf. His grandchildren will remember his many magic tricks. Coach was a member of the Will Rogers Masonic Lodge, a Past Exalted Ruler for the Elks Lodge in Claremore, OK and a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity of the University of Tulsa. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, mentor and friend. He will be missed dearly. Coach is survived by his wife Rosemary of Lakeview, AR, two sons, Bill Dost (Debby) of Edmond, OK and Todd A. Dost (Kari) of Owasso, OK; five grandchildren, Tyler Dost of Lakeview, AR, Dustin Dost of Claremore, OK, Colton Dost of Claremore, OK, Mallory Dost of Norman, OK and Kyle Deck of Owasso, OK; niece, Patty Rauscher and nephew, Paul Dost of New Jersey. He was preceded in death by his brother Emil Dost and sister, Dorothy Murphy. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a Masonic Charity of your choice. Arrangements are by Kirby & Family Funeral & Cremation Services.
