William "Bill" Hayes of Mountain Home, Arkansas, passed away March 6, 2025, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 78. He was born March 3, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of William and Myra Doidge Hayes. He married Mary Monaghan on August 6, 1982 in Wheaton, Illinois. Bill worked as a police officer, having served almost 36 years in law enforcement working in multiple communities. He began his career in law enforcement in 1971, working for the Villages of Lombard, and Bartlett, Illinois, the town of Genoa, Illinois; and finally retiring after serving with the Crystal Lake, Illinois Police Department from January 1983 to May of 2007. Bill served in the United States Navy From 1967 to 1970, having served much of that time overseas in Keflavik, Iceland.
Bill is survived by his wife, Mary; son, Michael (Jamie) Hayes, sisters, Patricia (Roy) Cook, Kim (Joseph) Crilly; brother in-law, Roger (Andrea) Monaghan, and many cousins, nephews and a niece.
He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws Edward and Lois Monaghan; brothers in-law, Thomas and Mark Monaghan.
