William Johnston

William "Bill" Lee Johnston was born June 30, 1937 at Sioux City, Iowa to James B and Pearl Hatt Johnston. He married Veronica Keigley on December 13, 1974 at Ames, Iowa. Bill was a Methodist and a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran. He was a Police Detective with the Ames Police Department until 1976 when he retired and moved to Mountain Home. Bill was the assistant transportation superintendent for the Mountain Home Schools from 1977 until 1988. They moved back to Ames in 1989 where he worked for Rees Security at the NADC as a security guard until they moved back to Mountain Home in 2003. He passed away at the Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 69 years, 11 months and 6 days. Survivors: Bill is survived by his Wife Vickie Keigley Johnston of Mountain Home, Two Sons; Bradley Olson of Atlanta, GA., Richard Olson of Clive, Iowa, four daughters; Allison Matson of Illinois, Heidi Coney and April Johnston both of Ames and Leigh Flowers of Mountain Home, and his mother Pearl Johnston of Onawa, Iowa. Preceded in Death by: His father and one brother Jimmy. Visitation: Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. Friday June 8, 2007 at the Kirby & Family Funeral Home. Funeral: A graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Ames Municipal Cemetery in Ames Iowa. Burial: Burial will be in the Ames Municipal Cemetery in Ames, Iowa. Memorials: Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House.
