Graveside services for Ret. Lt. Col. William Swederskas of Lakeview, AR, will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, November 6, 2009 at Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery, with Reverend James Fanrak officiating.
William Swederskas died Wednesday, November 4, 2009 in Lakeview at the age of 94. He was born Tuesday, October 12, 1915 in Nashua, New Hampshire, the son of Adam Swederskas and Anna Ykasala. The family moved to Brockton, Massachusetts where William grew up. He attended Brockton High, Texas Christian University and the University of Maryland. He joined the U.S. Army Air Corps and served in Europe and later served in many other places. He married Antoinette Canessa on August 7, 1951 at Brockton, Massachusetts. His last posting was at NORAD, Colorado Springs. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1968 and moved to Arkansas. He was an avid golfer and fisherman, and in the 1980's was Arkansas Senior Champion Golfer of the Year.
William is survived by his wife, Antoinette Swederskas, sister, Annie Ferrini, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, John, Joseph and Peter and sisters, Victoria and Antussie.
Burial will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery.
