Winfred "Win" R. Church was born March 27, 1919 in Dighton, Kansas. He was the son of Leo and Alma Durr Church. He married Hazel Filbert on May 2, 1969 in Alexandria, Virginia. Win was area director for the USDA and was an Air Force veteran of WWII. He lived in Mountain Home for 19 years, moving from Charlotte Hall, Maryland. He was a long-time Kiwanis member, past President of NARFE, member of Mountain Home Masonic Lodge #225 F & AM, and Twin Lakes Shrine Club. He was also past commander of Alley-White American Legion Post #52 and a long-time member of the Honor Guard. Mr. Church was a member of the Legion of Honor, a Hospice volunteer for 17 years, and a member of First United Methodist Church. Winfred R. Church passed away at Baxter Regional Medical Center on August 31, 2005, at the age of 86 years, 5 months and 3 days.
