Jason is a licensed embalmer and funeral director and a native of Mountain Home. He graduated from Mountain Home High School in 1994 and attained his professional licensure in 2000. He graduated from Arkansas State University of Mountain Home in May of 2006 with an Associates Degree in Funeral Science. After many years working in his family's business, he and Jessica, purchased Kirby and Family and Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery from his father, Elton, in 2011. He is a former co-chairman of the newly formed Twin Lakes Future Fund, a former member of the Baxter Regional Hospital Foundation Board, and was recently nominated as Entrepreneur of the Year by our local Chamber of Commerce. He is also an owner and board of directors member of American Life and Annuity Insurance Company in Hot Springs, AR. Jason and his wife Jessica have been married for 25 years and are parents of three daughters, Sierra, Olivia, and Mica. When not on duty, Jason enjoys spending time with his family, scuba diving in our area lakes, playing tennis, hiking, and fly fishing on the White River.
Jessica is very active in our community; she coordinates many events in the funeral home and community. Jessica is a licensed cosmetologist and owner of Halo Salon in Mountain Home. She has helped with the Peitz Cancer House, Serenity House, Mountain Home Backpack Program, the Food Bank's Bridge Bash, ASUMH Productions such as "Annie" and the Russian Nutcracker. Jessica and Jason have three beautiful daughters, Sierra, Olivia, and Mica. Jessica enjoys scuba diving, hiking, and traveling with her family.
Tom Kiley is a licensed funeral director, embalmer, and crematory operator. A native of De Pere, Wisconsin, Tom grew up on his family's multi-generational dairy farm. He attended the College of the Ozarks, known as "Hard Work U," near Branson, Missouri, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. During his time there, he not only worked on the college's dairy farm but also served as a captain in the Point Lookout Fire Department.
In 2009, Tom moved to Mountain Home, Arkansas, to further his education at Arkansas State University, where he received an Associate's Degree in Funeral Science in 2010. He began his career with Kirby & Family Funeral and Cremation Services as an apprentice and has since advanced to a fully licensed professional.
Tom is deeply involved in his community. He is an active member of the First United Methodist Church and volunteers with the Food Bank of North Central Arkansas. His commitment to service is further demonstrated by his roles, serving as a past board member of the Twin Lakes Future Fund, Mountain Home Rotary, and the Mountain Home Chamber of Commerce.
Heather Marsalis is the manager of the Kirby & Family Funeral & Cremation Services facility in Bull Shoals. She joined our staff in 2005. She is a licensed Funeral Director, Pre-arrangement Counselor, and Certified Life Celebrant. Heather grew up in Cincinnati and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Sales and Marketing from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. She is on the Board of Directors of the Bull Shoals-Lakeview Rotary Club and has three times been awarded the prestigious Service Above Self award and was Rotarian of the Year in 2012-2013. She is a Certified Yoga Instructor, an avid knitter, hiker, and reader.
Abby Strobeck is a licensed funeral director and embalmer in Arkansas. Abby is a native of the Branson, MO area. She moved to Mountain Home in 2018 to attend Arkansas State University where she received her Associate’s Degree of Funeral Science in December 2020. Abby joined Kirby & Family Funeral and Cremation Services as an apprentice in November 2019 and has since attained her professional license. Abby enjoys the local lakes and eateries and is a lover of all things coffee and houseplants.
Bill Wiles is a native Arkansan, originally from Hardy in neighboring Sharp County. Bill and his family have resided in Mountain Home since 1986. As a Pre-arrangement manager since 1995, Bill meets with individuals to discuss their pre-planning needs at their convenience in their homes or at the Kirby & Family offices. Bill attended college in Mississippi and at Arkansas State University Mountain Home. A past member of The Gideons International, Bill attends Twin Lakes Baptist Church in Mountain Home, where he has served as a deacon and as a greeter. Bill and Sheila Wiles have been married since 1984 and have two children, Alex and Emily.
Sharlet Gulley grew up in Kansas and moved to Mountain Home in 2001. She is a fully licensed insurance agent and has worked in the funeral profession for nearly 20 years. Her credentials include those of being a certified preplanning consultant for over 10 years. She has assisted thousands of clients in a professional, caring, and dignified manner with making decisions about preplanning their funerals. Sharlet is married to Denver Gulley and is mother to Shelbi and step-daughter, Amber. She is a proud Mema to Casen, Rylan, Riggs, Detrick, Katie, and Aiden. One of her greatest joys comes from spoiling these bright spots in her life and spending time with her husband.
Shirley is a familiar face in the Twin Lakes area, being a co-founder of Kirby & Family in 1976. She presently serves in the capacity of Secretary-Treasurer of the company and focuses on management of office procedures and financial affairs. She is a licensed funeral director and insurance agent. Shirley has served on many boards and community projects throughout the years. She is a member of First United Methodist Church and enjoys playing bridge, traveling, and spending time with friends. Her greatest enjoyment comes from her family, which includes her son, daughter-in-law, and three granddaughters.
Natasha has been with Kirby & Family for several years and keeps our records up to date and accurate.
Grace is a dedicated and compassionate professional who began working as a Funeral Director’s Assistant before transitioning into her current role serving as the secretary at Kirby & Family Funeral and Cremation Services. With a focus on providing exceptional administrative support, she plays a key role in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations. Born and raised in Mountain Home, she brings a deep sense of community and care to her role. Outside of work, Grace enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends, shopping, and traveling to new destinations.
Rita grew up in Missouri and graduated from Ritenour High School in St Louis. After living in several states and the Philippines, where she worked as a dental assistant. She moved to Arkansas in 1994 and joined Kirby & Family as the Bull Shoals Facility Manager. In 2000, she obtained her funeral director's license and now works part-time as a Funeral Director and Driver. She is very active in Twin Lakes Baptist Church, where she sings in the choir and is the Activity Director for Senior Adults. Rita enjoys serving the Lord, reading, needlework, playing volleyball, walking, and loves to travel. She married her husband, Ray in 2011 and lives in Mountain Home.
Larry was born in Ozark County, Missouri. He attended Thornfield, Missouri grade school and Bradleyville, Missouri high school. He married Mary Jane in May of 1966. Together, they have three daughters, seven granddaughters, and a grandson. They moved to Mountain Home in 2014 and joined Kirby & Family in 2015. Larry and Mary Jane attend First Free Will Baptist Church of Mountain Home.
Julie graduated from Paragould High School and obtained an associate's degree in general education from Arkansas State University, Jonesboro. In the summer of 2023, she embraced a new scenery and career change by moving to Mountain Home, Arkansas. Julie joined Kirby & Family as an associate and apprentice soon after her arrival. She has a caring family and loves spending time with her daughter, Savannah. Her favorite pastime includes outdoor activities like hiking, kayaking, and relaxing by the lake.
Leah is an apprentice and assistant funeral director here at Kirby and Family Funeral and Cremation Services. Raised in Fort Smith, Arkansas, she graduated from Northside High School and managed her family's business where they created novelty dog treats. Simultaneously, she secured her first role with a family-owned funeral home in her area in August 2023. In January 2024, Leah, her fiancé, and their dog Mary moved to Flippin, Arkansas, to advance her career and education in Mortuary Science at Arkansas State University. Leah loves traveling back home to see family and friends in her spare time, thrifting, and finding beauty in the unusual.
A native of New Madrid, Missouri, Elton Kirby graduated from West Memphis High School and Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science (dean's list). He served in Vietnam as a sergeant in the U.S. Army. In 1976, Kirby started Kirby & Family Funeral Directors in Mountain Home and expanded to Bull Shoals in 1979. He also co-founded American Life & Annuity Insurance Company in 1989. He has been an officer and director of the Mountain Home Chamber of Commerce. Elton is a long-time Rotarian with Paul Harris Fellow Recognition as well as a member of the American Legion and VFW. He was president of Hospice of the Ozarks Board of Directors for 10 years. Elton is a member and past president of the Arkansas Funeral Directors Association and the North Central Arkansas Funeral Directors Association. Elton served on the North Central Arkansas Regional Economic Development Board for two years. Elton and Mary are members of the First United Methodist Church in Mountain Home. Between Elton and Mary, they have four children: Lisa, Jason, Josh, and Jennifer. They also have five grandchildren: Sierra, Olivia, Mica, Allie, and Austin.
Mary Kirby, a native of Arkansas, is a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She joined the staff of Kirby & Family as a pre-need counselor in 1994 and completed her funeral director apprenticeship in 1996. Mary then served as Family Services Director until she became co-owner in 1998. Mary's activities in the community are extensive. Mary served for several years on the Mountain Home Area Chamber of Commerce Leadership Institute Board. Mary is a member of Mountain Home Rotary Club and served as Rotary Club president in 2005-2006. She was the 2003 president of the Mountain Home Area Chamber of Commerce and served three years on that board. Mary and Elton are members of the First United Methodist Church in Mountain Home. Between Elton and Mary, they have four children: Lisa, Jason, Josh, and Jennifer. They also have five grandchildren: Sierra, Olivia, Mica, Allie, and Austin.
